Corinth is the model for the Spirit-filled church. The two spiritual realities - the heavenly and the earthly reality were constantly clashing in Corinth. This series, the Spirit-filled church, seeks to answer the question, “What is the Spirit-filled church filled with?”
Just as Paul had to redefine power, he also has to redefine wisdom - it's not what you think! God’s wisdom comes from understanding heavenly reality and seeing our earthly reality in that light. He is telling the church that they need to see themselves, not as who they are, but as who they are becoming. This is mature wisdom because it asks, “to what end?” It is holy wisdom, because the “why” is answered by spiritual reality. And it is an Apostolic wisdom because it changes our current reality with the wisdom of the Spirit.
